Men's and Women's Cross Country Competes at Lock Haven Invite

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's and women's cross country teams traveled to compete in the Lock Haven Invite, hosted by Lock Haven University.

The men's team placed 22nd out of 22 teams in the eight-kilometer race and scored 585 points. Jack Thompson (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) paced the Colonels, finishing 41st out of 184 runners with a time of 26:08.0. Thompson was followed by Joshua Cackowski, who finished 145th at 28:19.5. Daniel Elkin (West Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) placed 158th with 29:00.7. Lesley Griglak (Great Meadows, NJ/Hackettstown) was closely behind him in 163rd with a time of 29:41.0. Brett Martinez (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) rounded out the Colonels with a time of 32:07.3 in 180th place.

In their six-kilometer race, the women's team finished 14th out of 20 teams, with a score of 416 points. Ava Bailor (Brogue, PA/Red Lion) recorded the best finish by either team, placing 28th out of 174 runners with a time of 24:47.8. Julia Lewis (Hanover Township, PA/Wyoming Seminary) finished behind Bailor in 110th position at 27:12.4. Anna Glass finished 127th with a time of 28:37.8, and was closely followed by Audrey Cornell (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) in 131st at 28:53.0. Brianna Wright (Harveys Lake, PA/Lake Lehman) wrapped up the Colonels finishing 162nd with a time of 36:41.5.

Both teams return to action on Saturday, Oct. 10, in Philadelphia at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial. The women's race starts at 12:15 p.m., and the men go off at 1:10 p.m.
