READING – Alvernia's Morgan Davidheiser broke a 2-2 tie with a goal in the 78th minute, handing Wilkes University its first Freedom Conference loss of the season.
Adam Lush scored on a penalty kick with just under 17 minutes in to give Alvernia a 1-0 lead before
Doug Moore (Doylestown, Pa./New-Hope Solebury) tied the match up with a header off a free kick from T.J. Brandt at the 35-minute mark.
The Colonels out-shot Alvernia 15-11, with
Greg Miller (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood) taking a team-high four. They also had six shots on goal, led by
Ed Zulkoski (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood)'s two.
Wilkes took the lead when
Matt Sankey (Kreamer/Midd-West) scored an unassisted goal with just over 51 minutes in before Davidheiser scored back-to-back goals just under 26 minutes apart.
The loss moves Wilkes to 8-6-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference, while Alvernia improved to 6-7-1 overall and 3-1 in league play.
