The Wilkes University women's tennis team improved to 4-0 on the year, defeating Lycoming 9-0, marking the third time the Lady Colonels have shut out their opponent.
In doubles action,
Xiaoqiao Zhang (Zhengzhou City, China/Warren Hills (N.J.)) and
Victoria Bybel (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) took an 8-0 win over Rebecca Reynolds and Aimee Snyder at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles,
Michelle Knight (Washington, Pa./Trinity) and
Rebekah Shanaman (Richland, Pa./ELCO) won 8-0 as well over Kelly Drinkard and Kathryn Walker. The Lady Colonels made it 3-0 at No. 3 doubles when
Stephanie Harkins (Larksville, Pa./Holy Redeemer) and
Lauren Donmoyer (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) took an 8-1 win over Abigail Petritsch and Esther Sandvik.
In singles play, Bybel made it 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Snyder before
Kristin Wilt (Milton, Pa./Milton) clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Erica Niemann. At No. 5 singles,
Katie Buckley (Danville, Pa./Danville) won easily over Kathryn Walker, 6-0, 6-1, while Shanaman won her match 6-1, 6-0 over Jessica Souchik at No. 6 singles. Playing at No. 4 singles, Knight took a 6-2, 6-0 win over Drinkard, while Zhang improved to 4-0 on the year with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Reynolds at the No. 2 spot.
