The Wilkes University men's and women's cross country teams competed on Saturday in the Ursinus College Cross Country Invitational in Collegeville, Pa.
The Colonel men finished seventh overall as sophomore
Phat Nguyen (Hanover Township, Pa./Bishop Hoban) crossed the line in 35:05 to finish 47
th in the 8K race. Nguyen was followed by seniors
Tom Larrabee (Wyalusing, Pa./Wyalusing), who finished 50
th with a time of 35:26, and Mike Griesemer who finished 56
th with a time of 37:02.
Rounding out the scoring for the men's team were sophomore
Alexander Caicedo (Pittston, Pa./Pittston), who finished 61
st in 38:49 and junior Daniel Hess, who came in 65
th place in a time of 39:49.
The Lady Colonels finished fifth overall in the 5K race and were led by freshman
Michelle Wakeley (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) and
Amelia Farnham (Guilford, Conn./Guilford), who both received medals for placing in the top 15. Wakeley finished eighth overall with a time of 21:23, while Farnham crossed the line at 21:58 to finish 12
th.
Senior
Christina Yesu (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) finished 36
th with a time of 25:23, while junior
Emily Klinetob (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) crossed the line at 27:26 to finish 49
th.
The cross country team will return to action next Saturday when they race at Cedar Crest College.
