DALLAS – Four players scored in double figures for Wilkes as the Colonels took a 62-57 win over Misericordia in Freedom Conference action. The win closes out league play and marks the fourth-straight victory for Wilkes. 
 
Tom Kresge (Brodheadsville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) led the way for the Colonels with 18 points, while Chris DeRojas (Kingston, Pa./Bishop O'Reilly) added 14. Paul Huch (Tuckerton, N.J./Pinelands Regional) and Anthony Gabriel (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) chipped in with 12 and 11 points respectively. Wilkes had trouble from the field in the first half, hitting 34.5 percent, but heated up in the second, making 10-of-21 shots for 47 percent. 
 
Despite shooting under 70 percent from the free throw line, the Colonels made more shots from the charity stripe (19) than the Cougars took for the game (12). 
 
Misericordia's Marcus Little made a layup with 15:02 to go in the first, giving the Cougars a 7-6 advantage. They would hold the lead for the rest of the half, including a seven point edge with 5:55 to go. Jeff Slanovec knocked down a three-pointer giving the Cougars a 26-19 lead, but they would not score again the rest of the half. The Colonels would take full advantage, using a 9-0 run during that span to take a 28-26 lead at the break. 
 
The two teams would exchange baskets for most of the second half until an 8-0 run with 6:57 to go gave the Colonels a 48-43 lead. They would not lose the lead the rest of the way. Huch hit a pair of free throws with just over a minute to play to give Wilkes a 57-50 advantage, its largest of the game. 
 
The Colonels are now 14-9 overall and 10-6 in league play. They will close out the regular season at Lebanon Valley on Friday at 7 p.m.
