MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – For the second time this week, the Wilkes University baseball team scored 20-or-more runs, with a 21-4 win over Lehman at the Ripken Experience. Yesterday the Colonels took a 25-14 victory over SUNY Plattsburg.
The Colonels scored at least one run in all but one inning as they improved to 4-4 on the year.
Geoff Miller (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) had a stellar day, going 3-for-4 with a double, three runs batted in and two runs scored. He was one of six players to have multiple-hits in the game.
Wilkes took a 3-0 lead after the first inning and would extend it to five after two. A four-run third blew the game open before a six-run fourth all but did in Lehman. Colonel starter
Al Clocker (Swoyersville/Wyoming Valley West) pitched five scoreless innings, giving up just two hits while striking out four.
Will Sisca (Katonah, NY/Somers) came in relief to pitch three innings, striking out five, while
Sean Flecknoe (Wilkes-Barre, PA/G.A.R.) pitched the eighth inning picking up two strikeouts in the frame.
The Colonels banged out 19 hits, four for extra bases that included two doubles by Miller, a double by
Joel Watson (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) and a home run by
Matt Ruch (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer ).
Wilkes will play its final game of the event tomorrow when the Colonels take on PSU Berks at 9 a.m.
