Wilkes Baseball Tabs Alek Conrad for Promotion to Full-Time Role
WILKES-BARRE – Wilkes University baseball head coach
Mike Guy has announced the promotion of Alek Conrad as the team's newest full-time Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator on Thursday morning.
Conrad replaces Kevin Johnson, who served on the staff for three seasons and in the full-time role for two.
"I am excited to have Alek move into the full-time role for our program as his familiarity with the players and how we operate will allow for a smooth transition," Guy said.
Conrad is no stranger to Wilkes, having served as a part-time assistant coach last season with the Colonels. Conrad helped coach the team to their second-consecutive Landmark Conference Tournament Appearance as the No. 1 seed, finishing 24-18 on the year. He also helped coach four All-Landmark selections, and one ABCA/Rawlings All-Region selection in
Jack Mathis (Exeter PA/Wyoming Area).
"I am thrilled to be able to continue my coaching career at Wilkes in a larger role and continue to help lead the program as a perennial power in the Landmark Conference," said Conrad.
Prior to his time at Wilkes, Conrad also coached in the Cape Cod Baseball League in the summer of 2025, one of the nation's premier collegiate summer leagues.
Conrad graduated from SUNY Oswego in 2025 and spent four years as a left-handed pitcher for the Lakers. A captain in his senior season, the Windsor, New York native pitched in 48 career games with four wins, two saves, 99 strikeouts, and a career ERA of 4.80.
Conrad begins his new duties on July 6.
