Trio from Wilkes Baseball Named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators

WILKES-BARRE – Three student-athletes from the Wilkes University baseball team were selected to the 2026 Academic All-District® Baseball Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Evan Melberger (West Pittston, PA/Wyoming Area), junior Nathan Loch (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley), and sophomore Ethan Grodack (Lake Ariel, PA/Western Wayne) represented the Colonels with the distinction, three of 33 Landmark Conference student-athletes on the team.

To be chosen to the 2026 Academic All-District® Team, a student-athlete had to have been at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and have competed in 90 percent of the team's games or started in at least 66 percent. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.

Melberger earned his first Academic All-District honor in his senior season, completing his degree in business management with a 3.92 cumulative GPA. On the field, the West Pittston native had a career year, batting .321 with 12 RBIs, and a team-high 27 walks in 40 appearances.

2026 marks Loch's second-career Academic All-District honor, playing in 40 of the team's 42 games as a cornerstone of the Colonel infield, finishing second on the team in hits (45) and RBIs (29). The finance major finished his junior year with a 3.65 cumulative GPA.

Grodack earns his first selection to the Academic All-District team in his first year of eligibility, pitching 35 innings of relief in 2026. The history and secondary education double major set new career-best marks in ERA (4.63), wins (3), and strikeouts (30) while finishing the year with a 3.73 GPA.
