LACROSSE SNAPS SKID WITH BIG WIN OVER LANCASTER BIBLE

LANCASTER – The Wilkes University lacrosse team snapped a three-game losing skid with a 22-3 win over Lancaster Bible. Eleven different players scored for the Lady Colonels with Melissa Polchinksi leading the way with five while Brittney Hodnik (Binghamton, N.Y./Binghamton) added four.

Wilkes had a season-low eight turnovers, including two in the second half while causing 19 of Lancaster Bible's 23 turnovers. Even more impressively, the Lady Colonel defense held the Chargers to seven shots on goal and won 17 of the 20 faceoffs.

The Lady Colonels jumped out to a 1-0 lead 32 seconds in when Rachel Greenlaw scored her fourth goal of the season with an assist from Polchinski. They would jump out to an 8-0 lead before Jenna Godwin put Lancaster Bible on the board with an unassisted goal. Wilkes would eventually take a 13-1 lead at the half before the Chargers opened the second half with a goal at the 27:33 mark. Wilkes would take a 19-2 lead before Lancaster Bible would score its final goal of the game.

Cassie Cronin (Manchester, NH/Manchester Memorial) picked up the win in goal where she stopped two shots while allowing one goal in the first half. Allie Zukunft (Hamden, Conn./The Gunnery) played the final 30 minutes in the net where she picked up one save while allowing two scores.

Wilkes improved to 9-6 on the year and will return home to take on Lycoming at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
