The Wilkes University women's tennis team won their third match of the spring season, taking a 9-0 victory over Scranton to improve to 13-0 on the year.
The Lady Colonels swept through the doubles competition without losing more than four games in any match and won all their singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles play, the duo of
Kristin Wilt (Milton, Pa./Milton) and
Victoria Bybel (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) put the Lady Colonels on the board first with an 8-0 win over Kelly Costello and Beth Lappin.
Michelle Knight (Washington, Pa./Trinity) and
Rebekah Shanaman (Richland, Pa./ELCO) equaled the feat with an 8-0 win over Caroline Curtin and Caitlin Ely.
Alison McDonald (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) and
Xiaoqiao Zhang (Zhengzhou City, China/Warren Hills (N.J.)) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win over Deirdre and Danielle Wylie at the No. 1 spot.
In the singles competition, Shanaman made it 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lappin before Knight clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 over Curtin at the No. 4 spot. Wilt continued the winning ways for Wilkes with a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot, while
Katie Buckley (Danville, Pa./Danville) defeated Ehly 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 6 spot.
McDonald made it 8-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No.2 spot before Bybel completed the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Deirdre Wylie at the No. 1 spot.
The Lady Colonels will be back in action April 13 when they head to Middletown to take on PSU Harrisburg at 3:30 p.m.
