Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, Dallas) saved 10 shots but Wilkes University fell late to Ramapo College as the Roadrunners scored with less than nine minutes left to take the 2-1 non-conference field hockey win on Friday night.
The score remained scoreless at halftime, as Ramapo outshot the Lady Colonels 10-0. Davenport came up huge, saving eight shots.
Wilkes got on the board first, scoring five minutes into the second half as
Ashley Ream (Manheim, Manheim Central) found the back of the cage on a penalty shot.
Ramapo didn't stay down for long, as the Roadrunners got an unassisted goal from Jayne Manigrasso 1:21 later, knotting the score at one-apiece. Ramapo controlled the ball for most of the remainder of the game, adding Manigrasso's second goal to take the one-score lead. The Lady Colonels had a chance with two corners and a shot in the final few minutes, but were unable to convert.
The Lady Colonels will wrap up their 2010 season tomorrow as they travel to Elizabethtown to take on the Blue Jays. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
