DOYLESTOWN – The Wilkes University cross country teams competed in the 2010 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships on Saturday, as the men finished 14th out of 15 teams and the women came in ninth out of 15 at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown.
Michelle Wakeley (Endicott, N.Y., Union-Endicott) finished 14th overall among the women, earning second team All-MAC honors. Wakeley ran a 24:01 on the 6K course.
Kara Engle (Hamlin, N.Y., Hilton) was the Lady Colonels second finisher, crossing the line in 26:47.
Olivia Waszkiewicz (Sauquoit, N.Y., Sauquoit) was right behind her with a 27:06 and
Laura Nulton (Laceyville, Elk Lake) was the fourth team finisher, coming in at 27:20. All three times were Wilkes top-10 times.
Matt Buono (Goshen, N.Y., Goshen) was the top Wilkes men's finisher, coming in with a 29:47, a school record in the 8K.
Austin Loukas (Windham, Maine, Windham) crossed the line in 30:30, which is another top-10 Wilkes time.
Wilkes will run again on Saturday, November 13 when it competes at the NCAA Division III Regionals, held at Coopers Lake.
