CENTER VALLEY – Wilkes University's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the DeSales Invitational on Saturday, finishing 17th and 21st, respectively, on Saturday in Center Valley.
For the men,
Austin Loukas (Windham, Maine, Windham) led the Colonels, finishing in 30:56.69 on the 8k course.
Timothy Fisher (Cape May Court House, N.J., Cape May County Technical School) came in close behind at 31:08.17 while
Matthew Buono (Goshen, N.Y., Goshen) was next at 31:18.72. 277 individual runners and 24 teams competed on the men's side.
Michelle Wakeley (Endicott, N.Y., Union-Endicott) was again the lead runner for the Lady Colonels, finishing 18th out of 198 runners with a time of 24:35.76 on the 6k course. She was 1:16 behind the invite's winner, who finished in 22:51.30.
Laura Nulton (Laceyville, Elk Lake) was Wilkes' second finisher, coming in with a time of 28:30.73 while
Stacey Skates (Waymart, Pa., Western Wayne) followed with a time of 29:47.03.
Wilkes will compete in East Stroudsburg University's Nevins Invitational in two weeks on October 23, its last meet before the Middle Atlantic Conference championships in Doylestown the following week.
