Stephanie Harkins (Larksville, Pa./Holy Redeemer) scored a career-high six goals while three others put in at least three more as Wilkes University took a 16-13 win over Cedar Crest College for its first win of the season.

While Harkins did the bulk of the scoring for the Lady Colonels, Amelia Farnham (Guilford, CN/Guilford HS), Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, PA/Dallas) and Jacqueline Harrison each added three goals each even though they were out-shot 35-25.

Wilkes relied on the efforts of Harkins and the three others, but Cedar Crest countered with a team effort where eight different people scored.

Cedar Crest jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the first four minutes of the game before Farnham put the Lady Colonels on the board with a goal on a free position shot with 19:46 to go in the half. The momentum would not last long as Cedar Crest went up 4-1 with a goal from Maureen Manning just over a minute later. Both teams would exchange goals before the Lady Colonels scored four-straight goals to take a 6-5 lead which they would not relinquish.

Wilkes would eventually take a 9-7 lead at the break and the two teams exchanged goals throughout the second half before the Lady Colonels put in four of the game's final six scores.

Goal keeper Cassie Cronin (Manchester, NH/Manchester Memorial) was impressive between the pipes with 17 saves, 10 of which came in the first half.

Wilkes will look to keep its momentum going when it takes on Lebanon Valley Saturday afternoon in Annville.
