The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team hosted Lycoming on Wednesday, and after being out-shot 52-11 fell to the Warriors by a score of 20-3.
It was the Warriors that came out firing in the contest, scoring five unanswered goals in the first 10 minutes. Lycoming kept the gas pedal down as the half progressed, pushing its lead to nine before the Lady Colonels answered with a score by
Amanda Tilley (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh).
Carissa Clark (Petersburg, N.J./Ocean City) added another score for Wilkes, making for a 12-2 halftime score.
Clark had an assist and a score in the period, while
Cassie Cronin (Manchester, NH/Manchester Memorial) had 10 saves for the Lady Colonels.
In the second half the Warriors scored four more goals before
Erica Sundberg (Mullica Hill, N.J./Kingsway HS) drove hard to the keep and score Wilkes' third goal of the contest. Lycoming added a few more goals before the final horn sounded with the Lady Colonels falling 20-3.
Tilley, Clark and Sundberg had the scores for Wilkes, while Cronin finished up the game with 20 saves.
The next contest for the Lady Colonels will be on Saturday, April 24 against Misericordia. That game will begin at Ralston Field at 1:00 p.m.
