The Wilkes University baseball re-wrote the record book in a 30-1 win over Baptist Bible, setting the mark for most runs and hits in a game. The Colonels pounded out 28 hits, including nine doubles and six home runs.
Wilkes scored at least two runs in all but one inning and scored more than five runs in three different innings. The game was called after seven innings due to darkness.
Shortstop
Mike McAndrew (Avoca, Pa./Pittston Area) went 5-for-5 at the plate, while
Rich Cosgrove (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Myers H.S.) and
Randy Dengler (Ashland, Pa./Tri-Valley ) had three hits each. Trevin Jaggers hit a grand slam as part of an eight run fifth inning.
Colonel starter
Al Clocker (Swoyersville/Wyoming Valley West) got the win on the day, pushing his record to 2-0 on the season, with the Colonels improving to 7-10 on the year.
Wilkes will look to keep things going when they host PSU Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday, April 7. That game will begin at 3:30 p.m.
