ALLENTOWN – Michelle Wakeley (Endicott, N.Y., Union-Endicott) finished second overall out of 98 runners at the Falcon/Mule Classic as the Wilkes University women's cross country team finished third overall out of 10 teams. The men's team also had a solid day, finishing fifth out of nine teams. The meet was run at Cedar Crest College.

Wakeley finished with a time of 20:23 on the 5k course, medaling. Kara Engle (Hamlin, N.Y., Hilton) came in 14th overall with a time of 22:37 and Laura Nulton (Laceyville, Elk Lake) was close behind at 22:44, finishing in 16th place. Olivia Waszkiewicz (Sauquoit, N.Y., Sauquoit) and Stacey Skates (Waymart, Pa., Western Wayne) were the other top finishers, with times of 23:05 and 23:44, respectively.

The top male runner was Matthew Buono (Goshen, N.Y., Goshen), coming in 23rd overall with a time of 30:23 on the 8k course. Austin Loukas (Windham, Maine, Windham) finished right behind, coming in 26th with a time of 30:32. Michael Wintermute (Tunkhannock, Pa., Tunkhannock) posted a time of 30:49, while Timothy Fisher (Cape May Court House, N.J., Cape May County Technical School) finished in 31:32 and Christopher Gustavson (Flemington, N.J., Hunterdon Central Regional) finished in 32:02.

Both teams take to the course again next Sunday when they travel to Philadelphia to run in the Philadelphia Metro Small College Meet. Start time is set for 10:30 a.m.
