WILKES-BARRE – Paul Huch (Tuckerton, NJ/Pinelands Regional) was one assist away from a triple-double and Chris DeRojas (Dallas/Bishop O'Reilly) scored 24 points in 25 minutes as the Wilkes University Colonels routed Penn College on Monday night, 99-63. With the victory Wilkes improves to 10-7 on the season.

The first 13 minutes were back and forth between both teams as both Wilkes and Penn College shot very high percentages. With 5:27 left in the half Wilkes mounted a 20-6 run with baskets by Matt Mullins (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley), Huch, and Craig Thomas (Avenel, NJ/Cardinal McCarrick) to take a 52-37 lead into the break.

DeRojas led the Colonels in the half with 13 points on five-of-seven from the floor. Huch nearly had a double-double in the first period, scoring 10 points and pulling down eight rebounds while also passing out five assists. Wilkes shot an astounding 64.7 percent from the floor in the half.

Early in the second half Wilkes extended its lead even further, as multiple scores by Kendall Hinze (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land) and Brendan Sheldon (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) propelled the Colonels to a 29 point advantage five minutes into the period. Outside shots by Tyler Breznitsky (Freeland, PA/MMI Prep) and DeRojas helped keep any Wildcat surge in check.

Down the stretch more Colonels got into the action, and at the 5:13 mark Huch passed out his ninth assist of the contest before sitting down for the rest of the game. Matt Hayes (Wharten, NJ/Morris Hills) hit a couple of late three-pointers to give Wilkes the convincing 99-63 victory.

DeRojas finished with 24 points on 9-of-15 from the floor and six three-pointers. Huch ended up with 12 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists as well as two steals and a block in 27 minutes of action.
