WILKES CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS COMPETE AT GETTYSBURG INVITATIONAL

GETTYSBURG, PA – The Wilkes University cross country teams competed at the Gettysburg College Invitational Saturday afternoon as the Colonels men's squad took 25th place of 31 teams while the Lady Colonels finished 21st of 31 teams.

In the 8k men's race with 347 total runners, Tim Jurkowski (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) led the way finishing 155th at 30:43. Dan Lykens took home 164th at 30:54, while Tyler Layton (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) crossed the line in 210th at 31:47. Austin Loukas (Windham, Maine/Windham) finished 215th at 31:52, Matt Buono ended 241st at 32:36, and Tim Fisher came in 267th at 33:41. RJ Sperazza (305th/36:02) and Sam Miller (318th/37:06) rounded out the Colonels runners.

In the 6k women's race with 360 total runners, Michelle Wakeley (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) led the way finishing 61st at 25:56. Becky Gordon (Middlebury, CT/Pomperaug) crossed in 175th at 28:14, while Samantha Gordon came in 247th at 29:54. Sarah Fillman (Limerick, PA/Spring Ford) (266th/30:32) and Christine Klingel (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) (295th/31:42) rounded out the Lady Colonel participants.

Both teams will be back in action on October 29^th when they compete at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships held at Messiah College in Grantham, Pa.
