WILKES CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS COMPETE AT DESALES INVITATIONAL

CENTER VALLEY, PA – The Wilkes University cross country teams competed in the DeSales University Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Colonels men's squad finished 15^th of 23 teams, while the Lady Colonels grabbed 14^th of 23 teams in the 8k and 6k races respectively.

For the men, Tim Jurkowski (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) finished with a school-record time of 29:04, the fastest time since the restart of the program in 2008. Daniel Lykens (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) finished with a time of 30:11, good for 7^th on the school's top ten list. A host of Wilkes runners reached season best times as Austin Loukas (Windham, Maine/Windham) (142^nd/30:46), Tyler Layton (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) (155^th/31:16), Tim Fisher (170^th/32:19), and RJ Sperazza (189^th/34:14) each posted their season bests. Matt Buono took home 169^th place at 32:02, while Samuel Miller (Harris, NY/Liberty) crossed the line at 37:42 in 220^th place.

Michelle Wakeley (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) led the Lady Colonels in 10^th place with a time of 24:43 grabbing medalist honors as well as placing 5^th in the school's top ten list. Becky Gordon (Middlebury, CT/Pomperaug) grabbed 112^th place at 28:36, while Samantha Wood (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) posted a season-best time of 29:11 in 127^th place. Sarah Fillman (Limerick, PA/Spring Ford) (150^th/30:26) and Christine Klingel (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) (153^rd/30:46) rounded out the Wilkes runners.

Both teams will return to action Saturday when they travel to the Gettysburg College Invitational set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
