SALISBURY, MD - The Wilkes University softball team couldn't find its grove on the first day of the Salisbury University Invitational Friday afternoon, losing to Shenandoah University and host Salisbury.
In the opening game loss to Shenandoah, Lindsay Behrenshausen (Mt. Holly Springs/Boiling Springs) got the nod in the circle for Wilkes. The senior would pitch 4.1 innings for the Lady Colonels, who surrendered six unearned runs over that period of time. Behrenshausen finished with five hits allowed and five strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Wilkes struggled at the plate, unable to manufacture a run in the contest and ultimately falling 7-0. Alysha Bixler (Williamstown, PA/Williams Valley) led Wilkes at the plate with two hits.
The Lady Colonels didn't get anything going in game two, losing 23-0 to the 18th-ranked Sea Gulls as Wilkes was no-hit in five innings.
Wilkes will play Gettysburg College on Saturday morning and will follow with a rematch against No. 22 Christopher Newport in the afternoon.
