SALISBURY, MD – The Wilkes University softball team finished its spring break trip with two games on Saturday, both losses, as the Lady Colonels fell to Gettysburg College and to 22nd-ranked Christopher Newport on day two of the Salisbury University Invitational in Maryland.
The Lady Colonels wrap up their trip to Virginia Beach and Salisbury falling in all eight games against some of the nation's top competition.
In the morning game, Wilkes fell to the Bullets 5-0 as Lindsay Behrenshausen (Mt. Holly Springs/Boiling Springs) went six innings in the start, striking out six and giving up five hits and two earned runs. Freshman Jordan Borger (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) was the Lady Colonels leading hitter, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double.
Wilkes didn't get much going in its final game of the weekend, falling 24-1 to the nationally-ranked Captains. Jessalyn Paveletz (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) knocked in the Lady Colonels only run on a single in the fourth.
The Lady Colonels will have eight days off before opening up their Freedom Conference schedule at home against Delaware Valley College on March 21 at 3:00 p.m.
