BLOOMSBURG – Alexis Donner (Belmar, NJ/Wall) picked up two victories and the Lady Colonels won three of the six singles matches, but their bid for an upset fell short as Wilkes University lost to Division II Bloomsburg University 5-4 in non-conference women's tennis action on Tuesday afternoon in Bloomsburg.

Donner's singles win came at No. 5 as she defeated Danielle Walsh 6-0, 6-4. Katie Lynn (Berwick, PA/Berwick) got a 6-4, 6-4 win over Sarah Fisher at No. 4 while Anna Mitchell (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) defeated Natalie Greenholt 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 for the Lady Colonels third win.

Donner then teamed with Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) at No. 2 doubles to defeat Greenholt and Laura Sullivan 8-4 for Wilkes fourth win.

The Lady Colonels (5-1) open up their Freedom Conference schedule on Saturday as they host Manhattanville College at the Ralston Athletic Complex. Their 2011 home opener is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
