WILKES-BARRE – Nine Lady Colonels contributed with wins as Wilkes University easily handled Manhattanville College 9-0 in Freedom Conference women's tennis action on Thursday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

It was the third time in the last four matches that the Lady Colonels have held their opponent scoreless.

Wilkes (9-1, 3-0) got things started off in doubles with a pair of easy wins as Katie Lynn (Berwick, PA/Berwick) and Anna Mitchell (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) knocked off Kaitlin Triano and Joeliza Valdex 8-0 at No. 2 and Michelle Knight (Roaming Shores, OH/Trinity) and Amanda Holyk (Scranton, PA/Scranton Prep) got an 8-1 win over Gliceida Galarza and Kim Kunces at the third spot.

Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) and Alexis Donner (Belmar, NJ/Wall) had a tougher battle at No. 1, but came away with an 8-5 victory over Laura Fortunato and Boramy Siek.

After Melanie Nolt (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central)'s 6-0, 7-5 defeat of Fortunato at No. 1, the Lady Colonels breezed through the rest of the Valiants lineup, as Lynn defeated Siek 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2; Kristofco won 6-0, 6-2 over Triano in the third spot; Victoria Bybel (Lancaster/Lancaster Mennonite) beat Valdez 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4; Donner beat Kunces 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5; and Rebekah Shanaman (Richland, PA/ELCO) blanked Galarza 6-0, 6-0 at six.

The Lady Colonels, still tied with Misericordia University for first place in the conference with identical 3-0 marks, will host Eastern University (4-4, 2-1) on Friday on the courts at the Ralston Athletic Complex. Match time is set for 3:00 p.m.
