Victoria Bybel improved to 10-7 this year in singles play while her and doubles-mate Melanie Nolt are now 6-1 together this spring.

HAVERFORD – Melanie Nolt (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) picked up a big win at No. 1 singles and Victoria Bybel (Lancaster/Lancaster Mennonite) got the deciding win in the fourth spot as Wilkes University continued to roll, defeating Haverford College 7-2 in a battle on regionally-ranked women's tennis teams on Tuesday afternoon in the Alumni Field House in Haverford.

The Lady Colonels (12-1) came into today's match ranked 19th in the Atlantic South region while Haverford (12-5) was ranked 13th.

Nolt paired with Bybel at first doubles to take down Katie Wettick and Alex Ferrara, 8-4. The Lady Colonels picked up another win at the three spot, with Anna Mitchell (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) and Katie Lynn (Berwick, PA/Berwick) beating Helen Fisun and Rachal Torg 8-3 to head into singles play with a 2-1 lead.

Nolt's singles victory came over Wettick in three sets, 6-3, 6-7, 7-5. Wettick, one of the region's top players, entered the match with a 12-4 mark at first singles, while Nolt moves to 7-2 with the win.

Bybel's win also came in three sets, rallying to win 2-6, 6-2, 7-2 over Katie Drooyan.

Also picking up singles victories for Wilkes was Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) at three, Alexis Donner (Belmar, NJ/Wall) at five and Rebekah Shanaman (Richland, PA/ELCO) in the six spot.

The Lady Colonels will wrap up their regular season with a huge Freedom Conference showdown against Misericordia University on Thursday. Both squads enter with 4-0 league records, as the winner will head into the conference tournament as the No. 1 seed and will have home court advantage. Action is set to get under way at 3:30 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex courts.
