Box Score

ST. DAVIDS – Eastern University's offense was too much for the Lady Colonels on Saturday as Wilkes University fell to the Eagles 21-2 in a Middle Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse matchup in St. Davids on Saturday.

The Eagles (3-5, 3-3) took the lead right out of the gate as Kelly Dando found the back of the net 32 seconds into the game. Eastern was able to get another two goals over the next 1:41 to take a 3-0 lead less than three minutes into the game.

Freshman Keri Meerholz (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) got the Lady Colonels on the board with her team-leading 26th goal of the season four minutes later at the 23:15 mark.

After another three goals by the Eagles, another Wilkes freshman, Gabby Ford (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka), netted her 21st goal of the year on a free position shot to make the score 6-2 with 13:22 left in the first.

However after that it was all Eastern, as the Eagles scored five more times in the first half and 10 times in the second half to take the victory.

Justine Thimmel (Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock) and Cassie Cronin (Manchester, NH/Manchester Memorial) split time in the net for the Lady Colonels, combining for seven saves.

The Lady Colonels (2-7, 0-5) will host Rosemont College on Monday, as Wilkes will participate in a “Pink Out” to support Susan G. Komen breast cancer awareness foundation.
