WILKES CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS COMPETE AT COUGAR CLASSIC
DALLAS, PA – The Wilkes University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Cougar Classic held at the campus of Misericordia University Saturday morning. The men's squad took sixth place of eight teams, while the women's finished sixth out of 10 teams.
Dan Lykens led the Colonel men with a time of 29:57 (54th place). Tim Jurkowski (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) followed at 30:18 (51st place), while Austin Loukas (Windham, Maine/Windham) came in at 30:56 (84th place). Tyler Layton (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) (31:36/121st place) and Matt Buono (31:56/160th place) rounded out the Colonel runners.
For the women, Michelle Wakeley (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) led the way with a time of 26:11, good for sixth place. Becky Gordon (Middlebury, CT/Pomperaug) finished at 28:53 (31st place), while Samantha Wood (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) crossed the line at 29:34 (71st place). Christine Klingel (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) (31:29/118th place) and Sarah Fillman (Limerick, PA/Spring Ford) (31:58/167th place) rounded out the Lady Colonel participants.
Both squads will return to action Saturday at the Messiah College Invitational.
