WILKES WOMEN'S SOCCER FORGES 1-1 TIE AT SUSQUEHANNA

SELINSGROVE – After 110 minutes of play visiting Wilkes University and host Susquehanna University could not decide a winner in a 1-1 2OT tie at a wet Sassafras Field Wednesday night.

Following the tie, Wilkes sees its overall mark move to 4-2-1. Susquehanna stands 5-2-1.

Wilkes' Katie Cocchi (Morris Plains, NJ/Parsipany Hills) gave the Lady Colonels a 1-0 lead 30:03 into the contest when she scored off an Ashley Graham (New Hampton, NY/Minisink Valley) assist. Wilkes would take the 1-0 lead into the break holding a slight 3-2 shot advantage in the first frame.

The host Crusaders answered to tie the game at 1-1 just 2:25 into the second half when Tara Brancato scored on a penalty kick after an apparent hand ball in the box. Wilkes played with 10 the rest of the game after the red card was issued on the hand ball. Susquehanna kept the pressure on late into the second stanza holding a 6-3 shot advantage throughout.

Neither team could find the game-winner in the extra frames as Wilkes garnered one shot over the final 20 minutes, while Susquehanna posted two shots.

Sam Lindo (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) recorded three saves in net playing all 110 minutes for Wilkes. Susquehanna keeper Rachel Norbuts made two stops over the double-overtime affair.

Wilkes will return to the pitch Saturday with a Freedom Conference matchup at Misericordia University at 3:30 p.m.
