At No. 1 singles, Steven Wilson (Bronx, NY/JFK) moved onto semifinal play with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Mitch Gettis of FDU. Alex Makos (Mansfield, PA/Mansfield), the top seed at No. 2, was a winner in his quarterfinal match 6-1, 6-0 over Robbie Baker of Stevenson. Connor Peckham (Warminster, PA/Central Bucks East) and Michael Kranz (Depew, NY/Lancaster Central) eached moved onto semifinal play Sunday both seeing action in their first MAC Individual Tournament. Peckham was a 6-2, 6-1 winner in the round of 16 then scored a 6-1, 6-0 win in the quarters over Tyler Schultz of Eastern. After Kranz received a bye, he posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Arcadia's Alex Colton to earn a spot in the semifinals Sunday. Top seeded Brendon Blachowski (Newtown, PA /Council Rock North) and Maxx Appello each scored a pair of wins at No. 4 singles. Blachowski was a straight set winner in both matches 6-0, 6-0. At No. 5 singles, Clarke Freeman (York, PA/Central York) and Trey Fidler (Myerstown, PA/ELCO) each advanced to the semifinals with straight set victories. Freeman remains the top seed in the bracket. Freshman Daniel Hackford (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic) scored to wins in his MAC debut with 6-0, 6-3 and 6-0, 6-0 decisions to make it to semifinal play. Brandon Helfrich (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) joined Hackford with two straight set wins for a spot in Sunday's semis. TJ Austero and Collin Strunk (Blakeslee, PA/Pocono Mountain West) continued the perfect day for the Colonels in singles play both moving onto semifinal play tomorrow. In doubles play, all five Wilkes pairs moved onto the semifinal round Sunday led by the No. 1 duo of Makos and Wilson.
