Steve Finkernagel Alexis Donner collected her fourth singles title and added a doubles championship Sunday in the MAC Individual Tourney WILKES WOMEN’S TENNIS EARNS FIVE SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIPS, ONE DOUBLES TITLE AT MAC INDIVIDUAL TOURNEY 10/7/2012 7:48:00 PM WILKES WOMEN'S TENNIS EARNS FIVE SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIPS, ONE DOUBLES TITLE AT MAC INDIVIDUAL TOURNEY EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team continued its fine showing at the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships Sunday afternoon crowning five singles champions and one doubles title at the Ralston Athletic Complex. At No. 2 singles, Alexis Donner (Belmar, NJ/Wall) showed no problems moving up two spots after winning three titles at No. 4 scoring a 6-2, 6-1 win over Elizabethtown's Madison Pipkin in the final for her fourth straight championship. Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) earned her third individual title with a 5-7, 6-0, 10-7 victory against Kristi Noecker of Elizabethtown in the finals of No. 3. Katie Lynn (Berwick, PA/Berwick) grabbed Wilkes' third title on the afternoon at No. 4 collecting a 5-7, 6-3, 10-2 win over Misericordia's Cassie Foy in the final round. Amanda Holyk (Scranton, PA/Scranton Prep) claimed her third straight MAC individual crown at No. 5 wasting little time scoring a straight set 6-2, 6-1 decision over Elizabethtown's Adriana Scotto in the finals. Amanda Rossi (Fogelsville, PA/Parkland) earned her first MAC individual title and the Lady Colonels fifth as a squad when she beat Sarah Calabro of Elizabethtown 6-2, 6-0 in the championship match of No. 6 singles. In doubles play, Wilkes collected its last championship when the duo of Donner/Kristofco took an 8-1 decision over Elizabethtown's Noecker/Scotto. Since 2006, head coach Chris Leicht has helped lead the squad to 28 singles titles and 13 doubles championships, the most of any school in the Middle Atlantic Conference over the five-year span. Wilkes will conclude its fall season Tuesday when the Lady Colonels host East Stroudsburg University at 3:30 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex. Print Friendly Version
