After trailing by double digits, Wilkes got back to within eight points, but the comeback fell short when Wilkes was forced to foul and the Cougars made their free throws late. Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) anchors the Wilkes offense by averaging 23.0 points and 5.8 boards per-game. Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) is contributing 9.3 points and 2.5 steals per-contest. Sophomore transfer Ellen Rich (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall) is bringing in 7.3 boards per-game to lead the Lady Colonel frontcourt while Amanda Pawlowski (Nanticoke, PA/Holy Redeemer) is dishing 3.8 assists per-contest. DeSales enters the game with a 2-2 record as Sondrine Glovas and Alexiah Grant are leading the offense with 14.0 and 13.5 points per-game respectively. On the men's side, the Colonels stand at 2-2 falling in their Freedom Conference opener 73-65 at Misericordia on Wednesday night. Freedom Conference "Player of the Week" Chris Shovlin (Kingston, PA/G.A.R.) paces the Colonel offense averaging a conference-best 25.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per-game. Tyler Breznitsky (Freeland, PA/MMI Prep) adds 10.0 points while Bernard Edmonds (Exeter, PA/Wyoming Area) and Pat Furst (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks West) contribute 10.5 and 9.5 points per-game respectively. Brendan Sheldon (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) leads the frontcourt recording 8.3 boards per-contest. DeSales is 3-2 coming off a Freedom Conference win against FDU-Florham. The Bulldogs are led by All-Freedom performer Brett Moyer's 16.4 points and 9.2 boards per-game. Guard Kyle Hash is posting 11.3 points per-contest. Following Saturday's contests, the Lady Colonels will resume play on Monday when they host Penn State Hazleton at 7:00 p.m. in the Marts Center in non-conference action.
