The Lady Colonels dropped a 4-3 decision against Shenandoah University before pulling out a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over host Salisbury in the nightcap. Wilkes stands 3-3 following the two day event. Wilkes led almost the entire contest against Shenandoah holding a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. Shenandoah erupted for four runs scoring the game-winner on a Wilkes throwing error with two outs to steal the win. Kait Brown (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) led the Wilkes offense finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Jordan Borger (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) was 2-for-3 with an RBI. In the win against Salisbury, freshman Laykin Hughes (Minersville, PA/Pottsville) pitched a gem going all seven innings allowing just three hits and one run throughout. Salisbury held a slim 1-0 lead until the bottom of the sixth when the Wilkes bats came alive. Alysha Bixler (Williamstown, PA/Williams Valley) started the rally with a walk, and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Bixler would later score on an RBI single from Borger to tie the game at 1-1. Rookie third baseman Many Seccia then singled home Borger later in the frame to seal the victory for Wilkes. The Lady Colonels will remain idle until Saturday, March 17 when they make their 2012 home debut against Eastern University in a Freedom Conference matchup.
