Ryan Fetterman pitched a complete game victory for Wilkes in game one Sunday WILKES BASEBALL EARNS SPLIT AGAINST IMMACULATA 3/11/2012 5:41:00 PM Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WILKES BASEBALL EARNS SPLIT AGAINST IMMACULATA KINGSTON, PA – The Wilkes University baseball team earned a split against visiting Immaculata University Sunday afternoon at Artillery Park in non-conference action. Wilkes posted a 12-8 win in game one before falling 14-7 in game two of the twinbill. In game one, Wilkes used four hits plating five runs in its first at-bats to take a 5-1 lead after one inning of play. Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) connected on a base-clearing triple before scoring on a two-run homer from Stephen Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer). Tay Sidler (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville Area) started the Wilkes fifth with a leadoff triple. Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) followed with another triple to right-center scoring Sidler to extend the lead to 7-3. Pisanchyn would later score on an RBI single from Ruch as the offense produced seven tallies in the frame. Bobby Schappell (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) added an RBI single and Matt Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) followed with a two-run double to centerfield to cap-off the Wilkes rally putting the Colonels up 12-3 with one inning to play. Immaculata kept it close in its final at-bats using a grand slam with one out to pull to within 12-8. Wilkes starter Ryan Fetterman (Endicott, NY/Maine Endwell ) ended the comeback attempt earning the complete game win in the process. M. Ruch led the offense going 3-for-4 with a double. Pisanchyn finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs, while S. Ruch went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Tay Sidler (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville Area) and Bobby Schappell (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) added two hits each in the win. In game two, Immaculata jumped out to a 9-3 lead after three innings and never looked back. The Mighty Macs added four more runs in the sixth to insure a split with the Colonels. Joel Watson (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) and Pisanchyn had two hits apiece for Wilkes in defeat. Starter Sean Flecknoe (Wilkes-Barre, PA/G.A.R.) suffered the loss going two innings allowing six runs on five hits. Wilkes will return to play Tuesday when the Colonels continue their non-league slate against Marywood University. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Artillery Park. Print Friendly Version
