WILKES WOMEN'S TENNIS CONTINUES UNBEATEN STREAK WITH 5-4 VICTORY AT BLOOMSBURG

BLOOMSBURG, PA – After claiming four of six singles flights, the No. 2 doubles team of Alexis Donner (Belmar, NJ/Wall) and Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) clinched the win for Wilkes as the Lady Colonels posted a 5-4 victory at Bloomsburg University Tuesday afternoon.

With the win Wilkes remains perfect at 8-0 on the season. Bloomsburg falls to 4-5 on the year.

Donner opened up the Wilkes scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Nicole Slagle at No. 5 singles. After a Bloomsburg win at No. 2 singles, Kristofco gave the Lady Colonels the advantage back with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Danielle Walsh at No. 3. Amanda Holyk (Scranton, PA/Scranton Prep) and Anna Mitchell (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) claimed the two other singles wins for Wilkes taking a 4-2 lead into doubles play.

The squad of Donner and Kristofco wasted little time clinching the match for Wilkes posting an 8-3 win in the No. 2 position. Bloomsburg captured the final two doubles flights but it would not be enough as the Lady Colonels continued their unbeaten streak at eight matches.

Wilkes returns to the courts Thursday when its host Haverford College at 3:30 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
