The Lady Colonels move to 4-0 on the season. The Lions drop to 3-6 on the year. Albright got on the board first as Meghan Wilson scored an unassisted goal just two minutes into the game. Gabby Ford (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) notched the game up for Wilkes two minutes later. At the 24-minute mark Wilkes went on a surge and scored four straight goals in a row. With seven minutes left in the first half Wilkes was up 9-4. Just under a minute left a goal by Kerri Meerholz assisted from Carley Smith (York, PA/Dallastown) increased the Colonels lead. At the half, Wilkes held a 12-5 advantage. The first goal of the second stanza came from Carly Smith just two minutes in. Albright scored the next four goals in a row in just eight minutes to cut the lead to 13-10. Smith answered with another goal with 19:45 ticking off the clock. A free position shot from Kelsea Guckin got the Lions within four goals of the Lady Colonels, 16-12. For the remaining twelve minutes of play, Wilkes scored four of five goals. Albright did as much as they could to try to even the score, but the Lady Colonels held on to remain unbeaten on the year. Both Ford and Meerholz led the Wilkes' attack for a combined 12 goals (six each). Ford and Meerholz added two assists each. Carley Smith (York, PA/Dallastown) followed with four goals and a game-high five assists. Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, PA/Dallas) posted three goals and Olivia Dworak (Dupont, PA/Wyoming Seminary) contributed one goal for the Lady Colonels. Both goalkeepers for Wilkes saw action between the pipes. Cassie Cronin (Manchester, NH/Manchester Memorial) earned the starting spot recording the win. Justine Thimmel (Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock) entered in relief midway through the second half. Cronin made eight saves on the afternoon while Thimmel added six for the Lady Colonels defense. Albright was led by Meghan Wilson with six goals. Arlean Diep suffered the loss in net for the Lions. Diep finished with eight saves in 60 minutes of action. Wilkes is back in action Saturday when they travel to Allentown, Pa. to take on Cedar Crest College. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 pm.Print Friendly Version
