LADY COLONELS TENNIS EXTENDS WIN STREAK TO NINE WITH 8-1 WIN OVER HAVERFORD

EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team pushed its win streak to nine games with an 8-1 victory over Haverford College Thursday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

Wilkes remains perfect at 9-0 on the season, while Haverford drops to 5-6 overall on the year.

Wilkes swept doubles play receiving wins from No.1 team of Melanie Nolt (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central)/Katie Lynn (Berwick, PA/Berwick) (8-4), No. 2 squad of Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle)/Alexis Donner (Belmar, NJ/Wall) (8-1), and No. 3 duo of Anna Mitchell (Montclair, NJ/Montclair)/Ana English (8-3).

In singles competition, the Lady Colonels posted straight set wins in four of five matches. Kristofco, Mitchell, Holyk, and English all captured straight set wins. Nolt held on for a 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 win at No.1 singles over Haverford's Alex Ferrar in the afternoon's best matchup.

Wilkes will return to the courts next Saturday with a Freedom road contest at Eastern University.
