WILKES WOMEN'S LACROSSE MOVES TO 5-0 WITH 16-4 WIN AT CEDAR CREST
 
ALLENTOWN, PA – Senior Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, PA/Dallas) scored a season-high five goals and sophomore Keri Meerholz (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) added three goals and three assists to lead visiting Wilkes University to a 16-4 victory over Cedar Crest College Saturday afternoon.
 
Wilkes remains unbeaten on the season improving to 5-0. Cedar Crest drops to 0-6 overall on the year.
 
The Lady Colonels scored the games' first ten goals and led 13-1 at the half. Davenport scored four of her team-high five goals in the first half. Meerholz and Gabby Ford (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) each contributed two first half goals.
 
The second half saw much of the same as Wilkes controlled play throughout. Davenport notched her fifth goal of the game off a Meerholz assist, and Brittaney Costigan (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) capped off the Lady Colonels offensive attack with an unassisted tally with :41 left in the contest to keep Wilkes unbeaten through its first five games.
 
Cassie Cronin (Manchester, NH/Manchester Memorial) and Justine Thimmel (Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock) split time in net combining for five saves. Ford added three goals and two assists. Olivia Dworak (Dupont, PA/Wyoming Seminary) and Carley Smith (York, PA/Dallastown) netted two goals each, while Costigan and Ally Bicskei (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township) contributed one goal.
 
Wilkes continues its road stretch Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with a non-conference matchup at Rosemont College.
