The Colonels took game one 6-3 before earning an 8-5 victory in game two. Wilkes improves to 7-12 overall following the two wins. After PSU Hazleton scored two runs in the top of the first, the Wilkes offense responded with one run in the bottom half of the frame. Joe Dantas (Reading, PA/Fleetwood) tripled and later scored on an RBI ground out by Matt Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer). Stephen Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) began the second with a double to left field and crossed the plated two batters later when Bobby Schappell (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) reached on a fielder's choice. M. Ruch tied the contest at 3-3 with his second home run of the season, a deep fly ball over the left field fence. The Colonels broke the game open in the fourth using four hits to score three runs in the frame to take a 6-3 advantage. After S. Ruch doubled to center, Schappell, Tim Benner (Catawissa, PA/Southern Columbia), and M. Ruch added RBI singles to cap off the Wilkes scoring. Marc Perry (Dunmore, PA/Dunmore) recorded the win on the mound going six strong innings allowing five hits and three runs (two earned). Brandon Carling (Old Forge, PA/Old Forge Area) entered in the seventh to pick up the three-out save striking out two. M. Ruch led the offense in game one going 2-for-3 with two RBI's. Skammer and S. Ruch added two hits each. Game two saw the Colonels offense continue to roll. Nick Craig (Springfield, PA/The Haverford School) singled to begin the second and stole second to reach scoring position. Dantas then doubled to right field scoring Craig to tie the game at 3-3. One inning later, S. Ruch hit a deep home run to left field to give the Colonels a 4-3 lead after four innings. Wilkes added two insurance runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to seal the non-league sweep. Joel Watson (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) and Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) connected on RBI doubles while Skammer added a sacrifice fly. Marc Seibel posted the win in game two going 1.1 innings in relief. Carling pitched the seventh for his second consecutive save. S. Ruch led the offense finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles and the home run. Wilkes continues its home non-conference stretch hosting the University of Scranton Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Artillery Park.
