The match was played on the campus of Randolph College due to the poor field conditions on the Sweet Briar campus. Wilkes moves to 1-0 on the young season while Sweet Briar slips to 1-1 overall. Gabby Ford (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) opened the scoring for Wilkes notching her first of the contest to give the Lady Colonels a 1-0 lead just :50 seconds in. Sweet Briar answered with two straight goals to take its first lead, but Ford found the back of the net on a free position shot tying the game at 2-2 with 12:36 left in the first half. Keri Meerholz (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) kept the game tied at 3-3 taking a pass from Smith beating the Vixens keeper to the short side. From there, Sweet Briar used six straight goals to open a 9-3 lead that continued into the second frame. Wilkes responded as Smith scored twice to cut the deficit to 10-5 with 25:42 left in regulation. Wilkes used a run of its own scoring five straight tallies to tie the game at 11 with 10:28 on the clock. Three goals from Meerholz, two from Smith and one from Ford capped the Lady Colonel rally. Wilkes reclaimed the lead just two minutes later when Ford notched her fourth goal of the contest putting the Lady Colonels up 13-12. Sweet Briar used a late goal with :45 seconds left to tie the game at 14 and send the teams to the extra period. In overtime, Smith wasted little time giving Wilkes a lead they would not relinquish scoring her fifth and sixth goals within the frames first three minutes of play as the Lady Colonels escaped with the dramatic comeback victory. Along with Smith's six goals, Meerholz followed with five goals while Ford finished with four tallies. Justine Thimmel (Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock) played all 66 minutes in net finishing with 11 saves to record the win.
