EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University baseball team exploded for a season-high 26 runs on 22 hits in a 26-3 win over Penn State Wilkes-Barre Thursday afternoon in non-conference action from Artillery Park.
 
With the win Wilkes moves to 10-18 overall, while PSU Wilkes-Barre drops to 4-10 on the year. It marked the second meeting between the two squads as Wilkes posted an 11-1 win on March 11.
 
The Colonels bats were at their best throughout the entire game as 10 players reached the hit column including seven who collected two or more.
 
Scott Skammer (Dallas, PA/Dallas) led the way finishing 4-for-6 finishing a home run short of the cycle. Skammer posted a single, double, and triple while batting in four runs in the process. Bobby Schappell (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) also added four hits and a career-high six RBI's.
 
Matt Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) and Stephen Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) each posted two hits including long homeruns. Nick Craig (Springfield, PA/The Haverford School), Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights), and William Klinger (Frackville, PA/Nativity B.V.M.) each reached base safely twice in the victory.
 
A.J. Mihaly (Berwick, PA/Berwick Area) picked up the win on the mound going five innings allowing one run on five hits while striking out five batters. Brandon Michael (Berwick, PA/Berwick Area), Mark Siebel (Rumson, NJ/Rumson Fair Haven), Cory Dickson (Ashley, PA/Hanover Area), and Joe Harvey (Clifford Twp., PA/Mountain View) all pitched one inning in relief.
 
Wilkes will return to Freedom Conference action tomorrow when the Colonels host cross-town rival King's College at Artillery Park. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
