Wilkes suffers its second defeat of the year slipping to 6-2 overall and 0-2 in Freedom play. Arcadia improves to 5-7 overall and 1-3 in league games. Arcadia scored the game's first three goals and never looked back leading 15-6 at the half. Wilkes responded in the second frame scoring six goals, but Arcadia added seven more strikes in the stanza to captured its first league victory. Gabby Ford (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) led the way offensively for Wilkes scoring five goals on 10 shots while grabbing a team-high seven ground balls. Carley Smith (York, PA/Dallastown) followed with four goals and one assist, while Keri Meerholz (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) posted two goals and one helper. Olivia Dworak (Dupont, PA/Wyoming Seminary) contributed one goal. Jaclyn Feffer and Jenna Crothers combined for 11 goals and four assists to lead Arcadia. Justine Thimmel (Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock) and Cassie Cronin (Manchester, NH/Manchester Memorial) split time in the Wilkes net as Thimmel was credited with the loss making four saves throughout. Cronin finished with three stops. Deanna Thompson recorded the victory in net for Arcadia tallying 11 saves in the contest. Wilkes returns home Tuesday when the Lady Colonels host Freedom rival Misericordia University at Schmidt Stadium at 4:30 p.m. Print Friendly Version
