LADY COLONELS TENNIS EXTENDS WIN STREAK TO 13 WITH 9-0 WIN OVER KING'S

EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team pushed its win streak to 13 matches as the Lady Colonels cruised to a 9-0 win over cross-town rival King's College Saturday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

With the win Wilkes stands 13-0 overall and 3-0 in Freedom matches. King's falls to 6-10 on the year.

Wilkes captured all doubles flights allowing just seven points throughout. At No. 1, Melanie Nolt (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) and Katie Lynn (Berwick, PA/Berwick) teamed for an 8-3 victory. Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) and Alexis Donner (Belmar, NJ/Wall) made it 2-0 early with an 8-0 win at No. 2. Anna Mitchell (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) and Amanda Holyk (Scranton, PA/Scranton Prep) pushed the advantage to 3-0 after doubles play with an 8-4 victory at No. 3.

The Lady Colonels swept all six singles flight led by Nolt's 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 1. Lynn captured a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2, while Kristofco, Donner, Mitchell, and Holyk all posted straight set victories.

Wilkes returns to the court tomorrow when the lady Colonels travel to NYU for a regional matchup scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Stadium Tennis Center at Mill Pond.
