WILKES WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO FDU-FLORHAM ON SENIOR DAY, 18-9
 
EDWARDSVILLE – Visiting FDU-Florham opened up a 10-4 halftime lead and added eight more goals in the second half to post an 18-9 victory over host Wilkes University Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.
 
The Lady Colonels slip to 6-4 on the season and 0-4 in the conference, while the Devils improve to 9-6 overall and remain undefeated (4-0) in Freedom play.
 
FDU-Florham jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first ten minutes of play as Breana Kilpatrick scored three of FDU's first four goals. The lead grew to 10-4 at the break as five different Devils reached the scoring column in the first half. Olivia Dworak (Dupont, PA/Wyoming Seminary), Carley Smith (York, PA/Dallastown) (2), and Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, PA/Dallas) combined for Wilkes' four first half strikes.
 
FDU-Florham continued to control play in its offensive end in the second half scoring four straight goals to open the frame as the lead grew to 15-5 with 20:21 left. Smith and Gabby Ford (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) responded for Wilkes with back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to 11, but the Devils added one more tally in the final 12 minutes to secure the Freedom victory.
 
FDU-Florham held a 40-18 shot advantage, while totaling 30 groundballs to Wilkes' 20. The Devils also held a slight advantage in draw controls (16-13).
 
Smith led the Lady Colonels offense with four goals and one assist. Ford followed with three goals and one helper, while Davenport and Dworak contributed one goal each.
 
Kilpatrick led the FDU-Florham attack with seven goals and one assist.
 
Cassie Cronin (Manchester, NH/Manchester Memorial) played all 60 minutes in net finishing with 15 saves in her final home contest.

Four senior members of the Wilkes women's lacrosse team were honored prior to the game for all their hard work and dedication to the Lady Colonel program. Seniors recognized included Cronin, Davenport, Caitlin Jordan (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall), and Kate McGurk (Swarthmore, PA/Ridley).
 
Wilkes returns to the field Monday when the Lady Colonels travel to Lancaster, Pa. to take on Lancaster Bible College at 4:30 p.m.
