Steve Finkernagel Gabby Ford scored six goals to lead Wilkes past Lancaster Bible Monday FORD LEADS WILKES WOMEN’S LACROSSE PAST LBC, 18-11 4/23/2012 7:14:00 PM Box Score FORD LEADS WILKES WOMEN'S LACROSSE PAST LBC, 18-11 LANCASTER, PA – Sophomore Gabby Ford (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) scored six goals and fellow sophomore Keri Meerholz (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) added four goals and two assists to lead visiting Wilkes University to an 18-11 win at Lancaster Bible College Monday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action. With the win Wilkes improves to 7-4 overall, concluding its non-league slate a perfect 7-0 on the season. LBC drops to 1-15 overall on the year. Wilkes led 3-0 early as Carley Smith (York, PA/Dallastown), Olivia Dworak (Dupont, PA/Wyoming Seminary) and Ford scored just three minutes into the game. Ford and Meerholz accounted for the Lady Colonels next four goals as Wilkes led 10- 5 at the break. Wilkes used eight more tallies in the second half as Meerholz and Smith cashed in twice each to seal the non-conference victory for the Lady Colonels. Ford continued her fine play in the offensive ended finishing with six goals on nine shots while collecting six ground balls. Meerholz and Smith contributed four goals each while Meerholz added four assists and Smith one helper. Cassie Cronin (Manchester, NH/Manchester Memorial) recorded the win in net playing all 60 minutes making 17 saves. Wilkes returns to the field tomorrow with a Freedom Conference matchup with cross-town rival King's College at 4:30 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium. Print Friendly Version
