WILKES BASEBALL FALLS 6-3 AT LEB VAL IN NON-LEAGUE PLAY 

ANNVILLE, PA – Host Lebanon Valley scored five runs in a three inning span and added an insurance tally late to post a 6-3 win over Wilkes University Tuesday afternoon in non-league action.
 
Wilkes falls to 9-15 overall on the season, while Lebanon Valley improves to 12-13 on the year with the victory.
 
Wilkes had several scoring opportunities in the contest including runners in scoring position in the second and eighth innings. In the second, Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) led off the frame with a double to right field moving to third on a groundout by Joel Watson (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale). The Colonels were unable to plate the run as a flyout and groundout ended the rally.
 
Lebanon Valley scored two runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth to take a 5-0 lead after seven innings of play.
 
Wilkes finally got on the board in the eighth using five hits to plate three runs. Pisanchyn and Watson recorded back-to-back RBI singles and Tay Sidler (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville Area) added a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 6-3 heading into the ninth.
 
Carmen Lopresto (Pittston, PA/Pittston Area) doubled with one out to begin the ninth as Wilkes trailed by three runs. Matt Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) followed with a base hit advancing Lopresto to third. Tyler Marino (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Meyers) then struck out and Pisanchyn grounded out to end the Wilkes comeback attempt.
 
Pisanchyn led the offense going 3-for-5 with one RBI. Bobby Schappell (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville), Lopresto, M. Ruch, and Marino added two hits each. M. Ruch's two hits tied him with Kyle Follweiler '08 for the school record for hits in a career with 185.
 
A.J. Mihaly (Berwick, PA/Berwick Area) went five and two-thirds to record the loss on the mound. Mihaly struck out three allowing five hits throughout. Mark Siebel (Rumson, NJ/Rumson Fair Haven) entered in relief pitching one and a third not allowing a hit or run. Joe Harvey (Clifford Twp., PA/Mountain View) pitched the eighth allowing one run on two hits striking out one.
 
Wilkes returns to Freedom play Wednesday with a road contest at Misericordia University at 3:30 p.m. at Roosevelt Field in Swoyersville, Pa.
