WILKES WOMEN'S TENNIS ADVANCES TO FREEDOM CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 5-0 WIN OVER EASTERN

EDWARDSVILLE – The top seeded Wilkes University women's tennis team advanced to its sixth straight Freedom Conference Championship with a 5-0 win over fourth seeded Eastern University Tuesday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

With the win Wilkes moves to 18-0 overall and will make its sixth straight appearance in the Freedom title match Saturday.

The Lady Colonels stormed out to a 3-0 lead after doubles and capture two single flights to seal the victory. Ana English and Anna Mitchell (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) gave Wilkes its first win in doubles play with an 8-1 decision at No. 3. Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) and Alexis Donner (Belmar, NJ/Wall) were 8-2 winners at No. 2, before Melanie Nolt (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) and Katie Lynn (Berwick, PA/Berwick) posted an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles to sweep the Eagles in pairs.

Kristofco then posted a straight set 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles over Eastern's Angela Littlefield, before Katie Lynn (Berwick, PA/Berwick) clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 over Jacquelyn Saunder.

#1 Wilkes will host #2 Misericordia University, who posted a 5-3 win over #3 King's College in the other semifinal, Saturday at the Ralston Athletic Complex at a time to be announced later in the week.
