WILKES CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS COMPETE AT MISERICORDIA INVITE; WOMEN FINISH THIRD, MEN FOURTH

DALLAS, PA – The Wilkes University men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2012 seasons running at the Misericordia Invite Friday afternoon.

The Wilkes women took third place of five teams, while the Colonels men finished fourth of five squads.

Freshman Kayla Myers (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkipmon) led the Lady Colonels in 13^th place with a time of 24:08. Becky Gordon (Middlebury, CT/Pomperaug) followed in 16^th crossing the line at 24:29.

For the men, Brian Smith (Laporte, PA/Sullivan County) paced the Colonels in 13^th place at 17:52. Tyler Sutton (Wyalusing, PA/Wyalusing Valley) followed in 17^th with a time of 18:02.

Women finishers: Kayla Myers (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkipmon) 13th (24:08), Rebecca Gordon 16th (24:29), Melanie Faherty (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) 18th (24:36), Sarah Fillman (Limerick, PA/Spring Ford) 20th (24:58), Christine Klingel (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) 21st (25:21), Melissa Scott (Telford, PA/Souderton) 22nd (25:52).

Men finishers: Brian Smith (Laporte, PA/Sullivan County) 13th (17:52), Tyler Sutton (Wyalusing, PA/Wyalusing Valley) 17th (18:02), Jordan Siddons (Archbald, PA/Valley View) 18th (18:12), Tim Jurkowski (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) 20th (18:12), Dan Lykens 22nd (18:24), James Chmiola (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Coughlin) 26th (18:44), Matt Buono 29th (19:04), Paul Williams (Pittston, PA/Pittston) (19:10), Forest Hawkins (Ashley, PA/Hanover) (19:24), Martin Tolbert (York, PA/William Penn) (19:28), Trevor Kapschull (Lake Ariel, PA/Western Way) (19:52), Mike McCleaf (Fairfield, PA/Delone Catholic) (19:52), Sam Miller (21:00).
