Steve Finkernagel Wilkes will look for five titles Sunday at the Bloom Tourney WILKES WOMEN’S TENNIS FINISHES DAY ONE OF BLOOM TOURNEY 9/29/2012 7:47:00 PM WILKES WOMEN'S TENNIS FINISHES DAY ONE OF BLOOM TOURNEY BLOOMSBURG, PA – The Wilkes University women's tennis team saw four singles players and three doubles squads reach the semifinals on day one fo the Bloomsburg Tournament Saturday afternoon on the campus of Bloomsburg University. In “A” singles, Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) claimed a 6-1, 6-2 win in the first round before a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 victory in the quarterfinals moved her to the semis tomorrow. She will face Michelle Perez of Bloom in the semifinals Sunday at 11:00 a.m. At “B” singles, it will be an all-Wilkes final as Katie Lynn (Berwick, PA/Berwick) and Amanda Holyk (Scranton, PA/Scranton Prep) cruised through first round and quarterfinal play. Lynn posted two straight set wins by scores of 6-1, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-4 while Holyk posted scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). Anna Podrasky (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Pittston) grabbed the lone semifinal place in the “D” singles bracket with a straight set 6-0, 6-0 and 6-4, 7-5 win in her two matches on the day. She will face Lindsey Tennis of Bloom on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. In “A” doubles, an all-Wilkes final will see the team of Ana English/Kristofco battle Melanie Nolt (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central)/Lynn for the title Sunday at 9:30 a.m. At “B” doubles, the duo of Podrasky/Olivia Hewison (Port Crane, NY/Chenango Valley) took both of their matches by scores of 8-6 and 8-5 respectively to reach the finals Sunday at 10:00 a.m. All of Sunday's action will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Print Friendly Version
