The Colonels men squad took fifth place of 10 teams, while the women's team finished ninth of 12 squads. The Colonels finished with 121 points, just three points behind fourth place finisher Rutgers-Camden who scored at 118. Brian Smith (Laporte, PA/Sullivan County) led the list of runners for Wilkes finishing 19th with a time of 29:21. Tim Jurkowski (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) followed at 29:44 in 21st place. Tyler Sutton (Wyalusing, PA/Wyalusing Valley) (30:09/25th), Jordan Siddons (Archbald, PA/Valley View) (30:16/27th), and Daniel Lykens (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) (30:19/29th) were three of Wilkes' seven point scorers. James Chmiola (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Coughlin) crossed the line at 30:21 in 30th place while Forest Hawkins (Ashley, PA/Hanover) rounded out the place finishers coming in at 31:11 (37th place). A total of 104 runners competed in the 8k race. The Lady Colonels posted a score of 270 with seven runners placing in the top seventy. Kayla Myers (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkipmon) topped the squad with a time of 22:59 in 49th place. Becky Gordon (Middlebury, CT/Pomperaug) followed in 53rd place at 23:26. Rachel Constant (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame ) (23:27/54th), Christine Klingel (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) (23:56/56th), Sarah Fillman (Limerick, PA/Spring Ford) (23:57/58th), and Melanie Faherty (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) (23:58/59th) crossed the line in similar fashion. Devanie Craft (Meadville, PA/Milton-Hershey) rounded out the runners with a time of 25:04 (67th place). A total of 121 runners competed in the 6k race. Both teams will be back in action Saturday when they run in the Misericordia Cougar Classic. The women's 6k race begins at 10:30 a.m., with the men's 8k to start at 11:15 a.m. Print Friendly Version
