COLONEL CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS RUN AT WILKES INVITE

EDWARDSVILLE, PA – The Wilkes University men's and women's cross country teams hosted the first-ever Wilkes University Cross Country Invite at Kirby Park Saturday morning in preparation for next week's NCAA Mid-East Regional.

For the men, Brett Ward (Enola, PA/East Pennsboro) led the way with a time of 20:09 for 11th place. Trevor Kapschull (Lake Ariel, PA/Western Way) followed in 12th place at 20:40. Sam Miller finished at 20:55 for 14th place, while Evan Witmer (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) was the final Wilkes finisher in 15th place with a time of 20:57.

Misericordia claimed the top spot in the men's race with 15 points. Rosemont followed in second with 42 points.

For the Lady Colonels, Christie O'Brien (Goshen, NY/Goshen) led the way with a time of 25:09 for seventh place. Devanie Craft (Meadville, PA/Milton-Hershey) crossed the line at 25:13 for eighth place, while Cheyenne Barnes (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) came in at 28:36 (9th place) and Vanessa Ejiofor (Union, NJ/Union) at 31:39 for 10th place.

The Misericordia women completed the team sweep finishing first with 15 points on the 3.24 mile course.

Both Wilkes teams return to action Saturday when they compete in the NCAA Mid-East Regional hosted by Muhlenberg College in Bethlehem, Pa. Races start at 11:00 a.m.
